Tia first got involved with the CA in 2013, as a freshman undergraduate at Penn. After attending several different student groups, the CA was the first one that most felt like a truly welcoming and accepting community and, while she didn't know it at the time, finding a progressive Christian community on campus was a critical safe space as she developed in her faith throughout college and after.
After graduating, she worked at Penn's Netter Center, coordinating service learning partnerships between the university and West Philadelphia schools and organizations. She then worked for five years in Washington, DC, as a news reporter and editor, before moving back to Philly last year. She's been so glad to be able to continue being involved in the CA community since returning and sees the opportunity to serve on the board as a way to help foster the same types of experiences she had for current and future Penn students. In her free time, she enjoy photography, hiking, and reading science fiction.
